I grew up in Kalihi and for years have driven past the large red-and-white sign that reads, “Megs Drive-In” (@megsdrivein).
And surprisingly, I never stopped by.
But back in April, Melissa Chang (@melissa808) of Nonstop Honolulu dropped by the old-fashioned drive-in that’s been serving plate lunches since 1967.
So when friends of mine wanted to check out the breakfast there — namely, the pancakes — it didn’t take much for me to agree to tag along.
Here’s what our recent breakfast — which turned into an impromptu tweetup, then lunch — looked like:
Meg's Drive-In

yummy! i usually order a loco moco to go,along with my regular sit-down order. Sometimes, however….it never makes it home.
If those pancakes didn’t make the top 5 then I need to try out the others. Looks like there is actually enough there so you don’t leave hungry.
We have some Facebook fans from the mainland that insist our Banana Pancakes are awesome! Come try them out and let us know. 🙂
When I come back I will stop in to see you guys. Lived there for a number of years and frankly could not find good pancakes anywhere. Those look excellent. If you are open Sunday morning you could see me on the way to Kawaiaha’o every sunday. Aloha!
@David, too bad we’re closed on Sundays. 🙁 We are open on Saturdays if you can make it.
LOL… Saturday it is!
Hello Cat,
Fuud pixs Friday!
I never been to Megs too. Next stop, Megs.
i gotta try this one. looks guud.
on pic 10, did you mean to say “I was disappointed”? or did you mean “wasn’t”?
I gotta fix that. Good catch! My mom caught it, too. 😛
Thanks for fixing that. I was puzzled because the pork cutlet is one of my favorites and I’ve tried finding a decent pork cutlet that is similar further east of Honolulu and have a very difficult time finding one. 🙂
Thanks for the blog post!
Doh! Nothing like getting caught by mom!! 😉
Great food with great friends!
@Joan, Mahalo for attracting the Saturday morning breakfast club over for banana hotcakes! We hope to see your Supah Stah in for her fix soon! 🙂
