It’s 10:27 p.m., well over an hour past my bedtime, and I’m still awake.
I have to be.
The inaugural flight on Hawaiian Airlines to Taipei leaves at 2 in the morning.
Yes, 2 a.m. It’s brutal.
I tried to nap but to no avail. I’m too worried I didn’t pack enough, that I’m forgetting something, that my feet will hurt in my new TOMS shoes.
And I’m concerned I won’t get enough rest on the flight — and we’ve got a big week ahead of us. We’re touring around the city, visiting the national museum, walking around the city’s night markets.
I’m gonna need the energy!
Stay tuned. I’ll be posting stories and photos on my six-day jaunt to Taiwan!

Can’t wait to see the pics! Especially the night market! 2 AM seems a bit harsh but the more you can sleep the better so not too bad. Just drink a glass of wine and relax, put on the Bose noise cancelling headphones, and chill.
Hello Cat!
Have a Great time!
CAT: Thank you for traveling and posting. I will enjoy the trip vicariously as usual in the comfort of my home and bathroom! Yes, noise cancelling phones are the best…before I could never sleep on planes because of the noise and droning sounds. It is the best investment in travel I ever made.
Have a great trip! I can’t wait to see yours and Melissa’s pics! May I make a request? Can you do a post about what you pack for your trips and how you can only carry a backpack? I laughed at your last trip with Melissa — you had your backpack and she had a big suitcase and various carry-on’s! Would love to be able to travel as lightly as you do!
Hey Cat …anxiously awaiting your posts!!! … with lots of photos … have a super de duper good time over there …
… looking forward to the exotic stuff you’re going to find at the night markets … I can only imagine …
