If four people in Alli’s flat in Amsterdam wasn’t enough, we were adding two more.
Our friends, Rick and Josh, from Hawaii arrived today and were going to spend the night in Amsterdam before heading to the La Tomatina Festival in Bunol, a small town in Spain.
It gave us an excuse to visit a few favorite spots in the city before they jumped on the plane to throw rotting tomatoes at each other.
So we went back for some Dutch pancakes, walked along the canals, ate stroopwafel at the Albert Cupy street market, and went for dinner in the bustling Leidseplein.
I will say, there’s a lot to do in Amsterdam, more than I had anticipated. And on my last full day in the city, I started to take an account of the things I didn’t get to do. I didn’t bike through Vondelpark or see windmills or visit a cheese farm. I still hadn’t been to any museums since I got here.
I wish I had another day — or week.
There’s so much to see, do and eat in Amsterdam. I was going to spend my last full day doing as much as I possibly could.
Here’s what it looked like:

Fantastic! I will definitely list Amsterdam as one if my retirement stops! Thanks Cat!!!!
It’s actually spelled ‘Pannekoeken’ – and man, do those pictures make me home-sick 🙂
Hi, sorry, I actually knew that, and I don’t know why my computer auto-corrected it to an erroneous spelling. It’s all fixed. Thanks for flagging it!
In pic 28 it looks like your shadow is parachuting! Interesting that the coffee shop came just before dessert LOL. Just saying….
CAT: I never recalled seeing any “pissoir” my last time in Amsterdam…but that was a long time ago. Thanks for all the pix.
Hello Cat!
Adding Amsterdam on my bucket list.
