I got up on Sunday morning and thought my bones were freezing.
It wasn’t quite 30 degrees — and the skies were threatening some kind of natural disaster. But we had things to do — namely, things to eat — and I was determined to get it all done.
It turned out to be a great day for a stroll through campus, as it was uncrowded and mellow and peaceful. And since a lot of students have left to enjoy the Thanksgiving break, even the coffee shops and restaurants weren’t as bad as I had anticipated on a Sunday.
So here’s what we saw and, of course, ate:
Bascom Hall
Bascom Hall, located atop Bascom Hill at the eastern end of campus, houses the senior administrative offices. It's an impressive structure, complete with a statue of President Lincoln in front of it. It was built in 1857 and is considered the heart of the campus. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
