I got up on Sunday morning and thought my bones were freezing.
It wasn’t quite 30 degrees — and the skies were threatening some kind of natural disaster. But we had things to do — namely, things to eat — and I was determined to get it all done.
It turned out to be a great day for a stroll through campus, as it was uncrowded and mellow and peaceful. And since a lot of students have left to enjoy the Thanksgiving break, even the coffee shops and restaurants weren’t as bad as I had anticipated on a Sunday.
So here’s what we saw and, of course, ate:
The pizzas
This is no cheap, throwaway pizza. The Roman Candle is a destination for folks who really love the pie. Because here, they're serious about it. They use big, old Blodgett deck ovens to get that perfect crust. And they've got a whole list of speciality pies that blend local, organic and natural ingredients whenever possible.
