I lived in the area about 10 years ago — and have always considered it to be one of my favorite cities in the world.
It’s home to about 3 million people — the most populous city in the Midwest — with a ton to do, from listening to blues in a club in downtown to biking on the long stretches of pathways that run along Lake Michigan. There are great restaurants, great museums, great architecture, great shows. You just can’t see and do it all in just three days — and that’s all we had.
So we made the most of it.
Here’s what we did on the last two days of our Chicago jaunt:

Hey Cat … thanks for the awesome pics … and great tour of Chicago … I’ve never been past Vegas, but after seeing that … I think Chicago is one city I’d like to visit …
… the museums are right up my alley … just how big do they have to be to house all the huge displays??? … I just can’t imagine … but looks so interesting … in fact, everything you did was interesting to me …
… and it’s like you can visit Chicago without feeling or looking like a tourist …
… would you have gone to a Bears game if they were in town??? … that’s one thing I’d really like to do – watch an NFL game live … I’m a Rams fan … so, tickets should be easy to get if I’m ever in St. Louis … haha, yeah they suck … but I love them anyway!!! …
Great overview of Chicago. It was strange sitting in Honolulu reading about Chicago when I am usually there reading about here!

Chicago is an interesting city, had a great time there over the years. My ex’s family was from that area. Former father in law graduated from Northwestern University Medical School. It was great fun touring the old campus area.
Everyone seems to like Rush street, could care less about that place though. Going to see the Bulls, White Sox etc play is another story. Sailing on the lake is also cool. And it is hard not to love what they have done at the Navy Pier.
But I can tell you right now and for certain it is impossible for me to love the place December through March. As a matter of fact you might say October until May. Having said that, Boston would be my selection if it had Hawaiian weather.
And then there is Singapore. And Phuket. And Palau.. and and and… so many places to love… only one me,.
I love Chicago. My aunt has lived there with her husband for years. Their condo is right there in the city overlooking Grant Park. She said it best…” Chicago has the diversity without the density of New York.”
63 pics wow! just think if there was snow on the ground. i’ll have to view them in shifts.but oi’m sure they are just wonderful.
thanks for the pics. you guys found brazzaz the same way my wife and I did. wandering around, looking for something to eat that didn’t have a mega wait. look in the window and see hunks of meat. sold!!
something cool for the warmer months is the ferry from the field museum to the navy pier. good way to get there if you don’t have a car. can’t imagine it’d be much fun in the late fall/winter, though.
