I’ve been to 53 By The Sea for dinner and drinks — but never for lunch.
And I actually think lunch is the best time to dine here.
Why?
Mostly because of the view. You don’t see the sprawl of Pacific Ocean — with unobstructed views of the surf breaks that dot the coastline here — at night.
But also because you get the same quality food but at half the price. And you still get the ambiance of a restaurant in a $16 million, two-story Mediterranean-meets-gothic-style building on the water with views of Diamond Head.
So we booked the restaurant — located in the site of the former John Dominis — for a baby shower. And here’s what we ate:

Another place where the food looks and likely tastes awesome that would be on my once a year maybe twice list. The clams looked pretty good, love good clams.
Hello Cat!
They changed the lunch menu, it’s more expensive now.
CAT: Aaaiiiyyyaaahhh! Fuud Pix! Tenks! Yikes! a $53+ lunch! This sounds like a Japanese tourist restaurant. While the ambiance is great, we can get the same thing at Magic Island with a plate lunch.
Amen.
Moa like $150 boo
I can’t wait to try this Restaurant! Thanks for the suggestion. My next business dinner spot!
i can almost see me fishing from the jetty. and i can almost see the little size 0 surfer girls with their little surfboards and little bikinis and long black hair, stretching out on the end of the jetty before throwing their boards in and diving in after them, then totally shredding out on the reef.
I love the portion sizes and the “white space” on the plates.
I’d love to see someone blog a complete wedding package here, including prices.
