I’m always on the lookout for a good breakfast places.
You’ll be surprised how few there are in Hawaii.
So when I heard about Sweet E’s Cafe opening up in Kilohana Square — it’s breakfast and lunch only — I couldn’t wait to try it.
Sweet E’s opened about two months ago by Ethel Kim, a twenty-something former barista at Starbucks who’s always wanted to run her own breakfast joint.
And let me tell you, she does a bang-up job.
Kim is the only one in the kitchen — from what I’ve seen — and how she delivers stuffed French toasts, kalua pig eggs Benedicts and some of the best hash browns you’ll ever eat without much waiting is beyond me.
She must have elves back there.
Here’s what my recent breakfast looked like:

Kindle Fire from Amazon.com
Price: $199
The gist: This 7-inch tablet is getting some flack for being clunky and slow. But it's still a great, functional tablet at a better price than Apple's iPad. You have access to more than 18 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines and books, too. And this tablet's in color.
Best for: Voracious readers, gadget collectors, anti-Apple friends who secretly want an iPad

Hello Cat, Fuud pixs Friday!
Looks yummy!
Have a great weekend! Be safe too!
Were you just waiting for my fuud pics??? LOL 🙂
Couldn’t you tell? :lol;
Dang that looks good. I’m hungry. I have totally gotten into corned beef hash lately and I’m obsessed…. I will go.
You gotta try this place. It’s homemade, so it doesn’t taste like the kind we’re used to. Really good.
Oh..yum, I haven’t been out for breakfast in awhile. That looked awesome. I’m trying a new place tomorrow, I hope you didn’t ruin it for me, that’s a hard act to follow.
Where did you go??? I’m always looking for breakfast places, too!
New place for breakfast!!! Hope it won’t get too crowded now that you’ve outed it. 🙂
I know… one of my friends told me that, too. Oh, well. If it’ll help this girl’s business, that’s good, right? 🙂
Catherine, if you ever head to Maui, Big Wave Cafe in Kihei had really great benedict. Hollandaise had a slight taste of honey, it was delish.
Big Wave Cafe? I’m on it! Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks Cat! I trust you…I know you know your Fuud. I was looking for a breakfast place to take my out of town guests! This is exactly what I was looking for. 🙂
While the food is killa! The water at this location is not safe to drink. It has been known for a long time that the water is unsafe for drinking. Across the street is an empty lot which used to be a dry cleaning service, and just next to that is the Board of Water Supply. Pipes running below the property also meet up under Kilohana Square. Ask any of the vendors there and they’ll tell you the water is unsafe for drinking.
I once flushed the toilet and noticed that the new fresh water was brownish in color. Also the tap when I washed my had started out brown then cleared after time.
Tell me I’m paranoid but I also noticed that in the water at Sweet E’s that there were black specks floating in the water glasses. After reading some articles on the Dry Cleaning and Tuxedo stores across the street it all came together and made sense.
When dining at Sweet E’s, please bring your own water and avoid foods made with water as part of its ingredients.
