First time trying this and loving it: vegetarian poke from Safeway. No ahi, but same seasonings on tofu, watercress and ogo. Super delicious!

lovely! But i’m thinking it should be called more of a “Hawaiian style tofu salad” than bring poke’ into the mix…er, so to speak. Delicious nonetheless, and i’d definately grind a few orders. I just associate poke’ with seafood(ahi, tako, etc.) exclusively. Kinda like frozen yogurt isnt called yogurt icecream, or frozen tofutt shouldnt be called ice cream.or a golf cart isnt a car…..or is it. I digress. Need to eat some poke before i dont know what i’m saying anymore….too late maybe. hehe
It’s a great option for those who don’t like raw fish, for sure.
i’d like to think that “fried ahi poke” is the option that non-RAW fish eaters seek. oxymoron sure……but deeee-licious nonetheless! hehe
yeah… pokey without fish is a little weird. Like the Hawaiian style tofu salad idea. Hey and it is mercury free no less.
Yeah, but not everyone likes raw fish (me included)! I know, shame.
Hey, I went to a party once and at the end there was a whole plate of sashimi left. I didn’t hesitate, found a jar of pickled ginger, a container of wasabi, and some shoyu and i ate the whole plate. Would likely have tested positive for mercury poisoning right then and there! Love raw fish like everyone else… just seems a little sacrilegious to call something poki that doesn’t have fish in it.
That looks ono!
Tasted ono, too! 🙂
