More than 200 box jellyfish were found in Waikiki this morning. The influx should last all weekend. Stay out of the water!

Bummer, guess I am glad I didn’t make it there this week… sort of…
This influx wasn’t too bad, actually. Only that one day. The next day (today) there were only a few on the beach.
It’s really too bad that they’re not even any good to eat. Many nuisances in life or in the water at least taste good on a dinner plate, but not these buggers. They sting, have no edible qualities, and can’t be made into jewelry. They serve only one purpose – to ruin what looked to be a great morning for surf and swim. I’m going to start calling dangerous drivers on the road with me: “jellyfish.”
While I’ve had my share of Portuguese Man o’ War stings as a teenager when I used to bodyboard often at Sherwoods in Waimanalo, I’ve never, ever been stung by box jellyfish. *Knocks on wood*
I once got stung right on my n#ts@ck by huge a Man o’ War. Most painful thing I’ve experienced! Now that I think about, maybe THAT’S why I don’t have any kids! lol
@WildeOscar, Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods did a segment on hunting and eating Snakehead Fish, an invasive species…

He also did one on eating Nutria…

I’m not sure what’s worse, actually, getting stung by man-o-war or box jellyfish. I’m guessing the latter is worse, but I swear the worst sting I ever got was by a Portuguese man-o-war.
And I’m not sure if this is the kind of jellyfish you can eat…
