Going to the fish market wasn’t high on my list of things to do while in Tokyo.
My list is filled with things like, “Go to Tokyo Hands” and “Eat at a maid cafe.” (More to come on both of these.)
But since our hotel is located directly across the street from the famous Tsukiji Fish Market — and, I’ll admit, I was a tad bit curious — we got up early and headed over.
Here’s what our morning at the fish market looked like — and it was more interesting than I had anticipated:

*DROOL* Thanks for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it!
When I went to Tsukiji I was able to see the live auction and you are right, it’s dangerous to be walking around with those scooter things zipping everywhere and not slowing down. One of the best ramen I had was at one of those stands outside of the market.
You got to go to Ameyakocho in Ueno for shopping, It’s like a very large flea market down a wide alley. You can find almost everything here. Packed with vendors and crowded. You can bargin with most of vendors for a better price.
CAT: I remember loquat at our family home back in the 50s. It was very prolific with lots of fruit and grew well in cooler temps….we lived up on the heights.
we have loquat here in Maui….all over upcountry. Good fresh, or in pies..or preserved as jam.
I didn’t realize that! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for blogging during your trip to Japan. I am living vicariously through it day by day from my cubicle at work. You have motivated me to start saving up so that one day I can visit Japan and experience these things first hand, but for now your blog will suffice. 😀
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! You should really, really, really go. It’s not nearly as expensive as people think. In fact, to be honest, I’ve found it’s cheaper in a lot of ways to Hawaii. Rooms are cheaper, food is about the same, and you don’t need to rent a car. Save up and go! It’s way better than Vegas. (And I love Vegas!)
