Friday was a crazy day.
We weren’t sure what was going to happen. We got news that Typhoon Soulik, which was gaining strength as it made its way toward Taiwan, was going to hit sometime that day. Hawaiian Airlines decided to cancel its flight out of Taipei — it was postponed to Saturday — and folks were concerned about the potential disaster the typhoon could cause this densely populated city.
So what did we do?
We headed out. And without an umbrella.
We hit a 123-year-old tea shop to sample locally grown and processed tea, then ate at a fancy new Italian Restaurant. All before the typhoon hit.

This place was particularly special because of its age and the traditional charcoal curing process it still uses. I love places like this, too!
