#CatTravels: Top 10 #NYC moments

I only had five days in New York City.

So fitting in everything I had wanted to do — and everything everyone told me I should do — was nearly impossible.

I didn’t get to the Top of the Rock or eat at Momofuku Milk Bar (Sorry, Christina!). I skipped Zabars, Yankee Stadium, and any water taxi tour of the city. I didn’t even make it to Brooklyn.

But I did do a lot of incredibly fun things — like getting around the city in a taxi (above) — even in the very short time I was there.

And it was just enough to make me want to come back.

So here are my Top 10 #NYC moments:

Can I just say, New York City has some stellar bakeries. Levain Bakery (shown) — and its six-ounce monster cookies — lived up to expectations. But it wasn't the only bakery I came home raving about.

Thanks to everyone who followed my adventures in #NYC on Twitter and Instagram — and here! Hmm, I wonder what’s coming up next!

Skeptical before our first visit, NYC has become the “the best” place to go. So much to see, do and experience. Next time you need to check out: Carnegie Deli, Yankee Stadium and a Broardway show.

Levain is my favorite bakery! It’s a hidden gem in my neighborhood. You visited some good places. 🙂

Thanks Cat for sharing your NYC adventure with us. This got me thinking of my trip, and I came up with my own top 10 moments……
    1. That first moment when we got into Manhattan. All the noisy traffic, people hustling and bustling and tall buildings. It was exactly how I had envisioned the city to be.
    2. My first broadway musical Hairspray. I love love love musicals.
    3. Our 1st ride in the subway. It was a bit overwhelming at first trying to figure out where to go. And this was during the peak morning hours. Once we got on, we were estatic to find ourselves the only riders in our section and excitedly took pictures of ourselves. (If I had an email addy, I would send you our pics. You can see the excitement in our faces).
    4. Eating hot dogs on a park bench in Central Park. We even met Eddie Sherman and his wife, and he wrote about our encounter in his column. My 10 seconds of fame.
    5. Eating my first Junior’s cheesecake at Grand Central Station. Being a foodie, this was in my top 3 list of things I had to do. Cheesecake is my all time fave dessert.
    6. Taking pictures with FDNY. We had just come out of Dean & Deluca, and lo and behold, there was a lieutenant with his fire truck. He volunteered to take pics of us with his crew. What a nice guy he was.
    7. Empire State Building. We went up at night but still got a beautiful view of the city.
    8. Attending mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It was awesome worshipping with people from all over the world.
    9. Visiting Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. To think about what those immigrants had to endure is mind boggling.
    10. Visiting Ground Zero.

Heck, experiencing NYC with my three girlfriends (it was our first trip there all of us) was a top 10 life moment.
