It’s not everyday you get to sample the best street foods from Asia.
But last night, the culinary team at Roy’s Hawaii Kai, headed by executive chef Chris Garnier, took us on this journey through Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and other areas in southeast Asia as part of its “WTF?! (What’s The Future)” dinner series. (The next one is scheduled for sometime this summer.)
It was a six-course meal — for just $65 a person — complete with dessert at the end. (Beverage pairings cost just $75 per person.) It was hard to pass up this opportunity.
The only downside: it made me want to actually travel to these countries and eat the food there. And I can’t exactly do that on a freelance budget. So the dinner experience was worthwhile for me.

Different strokes for different folks. For $65 we are talking a chili rice bowl and two rounds of golf on the Ko’olau course. Talking weekday late kama’aina rates. Don’t get me wrong I love artsy food presentation and the richness of the flavors… but absent a lady in my life that likes that kine stuffs… tee time please.

that looks so ono, but street fuud? I don’t think you’ll find 5 hour duck anywhere on the street in vietnam. looks like a steal for 65/head.
