Well, that’s not what happened with me yesterday. But I did have lofty ideas of all the things I could accomplish in 24 hours — not really factoring in drive times and, well, napping.
Turns out, I didn’t get around to hiking Waihee Valley or finding out how that bartender makes his muddled blueberry mojito. But I did do — and eat — some pretty cool stuff.
Here’s what my second day on Maui looked like:
Hali'imaile pineapple upside-down cake
Desserts here are a must. And this is the restaurant's most popular and signature dish. Using Maui Gold pineapple, this dessert features a buttery vanilla pound cake topped with caramelized pineapples. (We got it a la mode.) It tasted like a heavy pancake drenched in butter and syrup — which, to me, is a good thing! Until tomorrow, when I'm five pounds heavier and wishing I ordered a salad.
