I still can’t believe I’m not either holed up in a hospital or shopping for new jeans.
Over the weekend, my mom and I did a whirlwind tour of eateries on Maui, a full 36 hours of eating. It was a food frenzy. On the first day alone, we ate at nine restaurants. Seriously.
By the end of the trip, we had dined at nearly a dozen eateries, drank a lot of Diet Coke and said out loud, “I don’t think I can eat anymore!”
Here’s a peek into our food-filled adventures over the holiday weekend. Don’t attempt this. You’re better off living vicariously.

Awesome! Never knew Maui had so much to offer. Must try a few of these places next time I visit! Big Island or Kauai next!? 🙂
By the way — how many of these shots were taken with your iPhone 4!? Hope you’re liking it!
@cat — you have an iPhone 4? I suggest jailbreaking it. I did and it is infinitely more useful! Go to jailbreakme.com with your iPhone in Safari. Just “swipe” to jailbreak.
@MaxMaxMax Who knew it was that easy! I don’t have an iPhone 4 but I want to get one now just to jailbreak it 🙂 Thanks for the tip!
@jennalanger — Yeah, it a piece o’ cake. Earlier jailbreaks of iOS was risky, but I read several blogs on jailbreaking iOS4 and most said it was bulletproof… plus, I had an Apple Store employee friend of mine talk me into it. He said most of them already did, LOL!
– Special lock screen functions
– Free hotspot creation with your iPhone for t free tethering (I use this all the time)
– Texting from the little blue box without having to leave current app and going to text app. Just type a quick reply and send.
– Backgrounder app for making EVERY app multitask, etc.
Sorry to highjack your topic Cat. You guys at Nonstop need a digital lifestyle blogger? Lemme know, hehe!
Maui has a lot to offer. The Maui of old — which no longer exists — had way more to offer. Azekas ribs, Suda chow fun, Shishido mochi, the original Maui hot dog…..as new things are built up, the old is fading away. Central Maui, where it all began has changed quite a bit.
@Ron I was so sad about Shishido… It was nice to see the old places like Tasaka and Sam Sato still around — and still operated by family.
Hello Cat!
I found you! 🙂
I’m “M” from the old side if you didn’t know that already. Eating your way though Maui and putting some pounds on? You got to go surf it off now. lol
Where’s your boyfriend?
@808lum Took my mom. It was our girls weekend!
Yay, great job. Thanks for taking us on your trip to Maui. I miss that place. Oh man I had to do a double take on your first pic. Thought was one dog fuud bowl 😆
@Ynaku LOL! There should be a restaurant with that gimmick… Eating out of pet dishes… Hilarious!
Nice job on your Maui stop off. You caught a few of the greats. There is so much more, including some local secret spots. You gotta know to go. We’ll be adding them here https://www.mauirestaurantcatering.com
@Ron the Suda family reopened their snack shop up at Blackie’s Pit Stop in Kihei (At Piilani Hwy
@mauiguide https://www.mauirestaurantcatering.com@Ron Well, I didn’t actually post EVERY place I ate. Gotta keep some spots secret! 🙂
@Cat You know it.
@mauiguide Yup, Suda’s reopened up the hill, but it’s not the same as the original store, which is now an ABC store. @Cat, that’s why I mentioned the places that are long gone….the best eat’n place is Grandma’s…..after I bring home the kumu, the oio, the opihi, the tako….yum! When I walked that beach in Wailea, and there’s just one couple on that beach — it was too crowded — went to the next beach.
@mauiguide @Cat Azeka’s ribs and rib eye on a kiawe wood grill….hard to beat. Dunno where if any Azeka’s can be found. Cat, you gotta head back to the Maui County fair on Sat Oct 2nd. Wailuku Hongwanji chow fun…..and other eats.
@Ron @mauiguide@Cat Ribeye — you speak my language!
I’ve had some great saimin noodles at a local place in Kauai, and now I know where to stop in Maui. Thanks for the tips, can’t wait until I get out there again!
@jennalanger Are you talking about Hamura’s? I haven’t been there in years. Actually, maybe that’s my next food adventure… After a diet!
@Cat Yes that’s exactly the place! I forget how small Kauai is 🙂 I think we got the delicious cream pie for dessert as well. A great place for a post-diet food adventure!
@jennalanger It’s on my list for my Kauai eating frenzy! 🙂
when you statue goes up next to Duke, you will be standing on your board, holding a fork to your mouth
@turkfontaine I realize that every single photo on this site is me eating something. What’s going on…
Thanks for stopping by! I can’t look at my photos… I’m still a bit queasy from all that eating…
Thanks for stopping by! I can’t even look at my own photos from Maui… I’m still a bit queasy from all that eating…
Delicious
Cat, you wanna borrow my P90X DVDs, hehe!
@MaxMaxMax Have you done Insanity yet? I’m thinking about it. THINKING.

CAT,
Aaaiiiyyyaaahhh! Fuud Pix! Tenks! This is a great post. My eyes are watering like my mouth. BTW this is my umpteenth attempt to submit a comment. This blog spot takes some getting used to.
@Annoddah_Dave — I am pulling out hairs here trying to post as well. Something is awry in the coding of the commenting feature I suspect.
@MaxMaxMax @Annoddah_Dave Sorry guys, the comment stream has been unstable today due a large number of new installs of the Livefyre comment plugin. We’re about to push changes to make it much more stable. Check out this post for more info: https://www.nonstophonolulu.com/blogs/nocache/you-livefyre-awesome/
@Annoddah_Dave I know, the comment thing is driving me nuts, too. We’re working on it!
[…] few minutes later I got an e-mail notifying me that the author, Cat, replied to my comment: “@jennalanger Are you talking about Hamura’s? I haven’t been there in years. […]
