Cat Chat 16: Eat The Street returns

By Catherine Toth Fox • February 23, 2011 • #CatTravels, Musings, The Daily Dish, Videos

Who said bigger isn’t always better?

Obviously that person didn’t go to last month’s Eat The Street food truck and street food rally in a small parking lot at Kapiolani Boulevard. Because bigger could only be better.

And lucky for us, it will.

Eat The Street is back on Friday, this time in a bigger venue. (We’re talking a four-acre lot on the corner of Halekauwila and South streets owned by Kamehameha Schools.) And you know what that means — more eats. And more reasons to check it out.

We sat down with event diva Poni Askew (@streetgrindz) to dish about the second food truck rally and why you should ditch work early that day and head down to Kakaako.

Eat The Street Kakaako, 5-9 p.m. Friday, 555 South St., Free. StreetGrindz.com

For more on the event, see our Eat The Street guide.

awesome!! food carts are big here in the bay area, with the cultural diversity and high rents contributing to some great food on wheels. last year they started “Off the Grid”, a food cart hoedown every friday evening at fort mason center up in the city. it was so successful that they’ve done OtG’s on other days at other locations.
twitter is a big help for these carts. most carts have their own twitter accounts and SFcarts tries to consolidate the tweets as well. you can follow your favorites and see where they’ll be on a particular day. there’s a couple of stopping points near my office, so i make sure to keep an eye on their activity, just in case I’m in the mood for a lobster roll (@chowdermobile) or Daniel Burger (@seoulonwheels – a cheeseburger with spicy korean pork and kim chee piled on)

Can’t wait, it’s almost here! Leave it Cat to ask about booze j/k.

By the way there is/was a funny typo in this article, I won’t point out exactly what it is since it might get corrected as I write this haha.
