Top 10 best memories of Europe

By Catherine Toth Fox • October 18, 2010 • #CatTravels, Musings, The Daily Dish

It’s nearly impossible to narrow down my favorite 10 things I saw, did and ate in Europe.

There were just too many.

From seeing the famous Rosetta Stone in the British Museum to noshing on paprika-flavored chips (or crisps) while waiting for the metro, my European adventure provided so many memories. I loved walking along the tree-lined Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris and riding around London on double-decker buses. It was fascinating to watch the members of the House of Commons in London debate over a blood contamination case or witness a traditional French wedding reception in Avignon.

These are unforgettable experiences, for sure.

But in the spirit of Nonstop — we love our lists! — I’ve put together a list of my Top 10 best memories of Europe, in no particular order.

I hope you enjoy this one last look at Europe as much as I did putting this gallery together!

First off, breakfast!

I never ate so many breakfast items — like this cinnamon swirl — than on this vacation. It's not the best habit, I'm sure, but so far, it's working for me.

Awesome pics, Cat… thanks for helping me plan my (probably well in the distant future) trip to Europe!

i love how the food pics end in paris! i was drooling and getting full, thinking abt when i can get my next crepe, when boom! we’re on the tube (only 4 pics left?) and end up at a soccer game. paris felt magical and scrumptious; london, gritty. great recap.

It appears a person needs an entire summer to take in London and Paris with good day trips everywhere. Something to think about, land summer teaching jobs all over the place.

@dbjack Yeah, agreed… i’ve been to London twice for four days each, and I feel as if I have barely seen it. Same with Paris. I’d like to do with them what I did for Italy. Learn the language, then go for almost two weeks at a minimum and explore the small towns around the major cities (like I did in Tuscany). Oh, to find the time to do that… life’s is short, but vacations are shorter! (haha)

You guys did so much in a short period of time. Think you probably made a lot of people start planning for a trip to Europe. Love this recap.

You did what few others could: discover London and France in such a short period. I vote for going back soon.

    Hello Cat!

    Welcome home!

    How about a top 100 instead of 10. 🙂

i saw London, I saw France. and from the looks of the weather i hope you wore long underpants. i’m glad you are a good photographer. i know you’ll go to Italy soon, and I hope Portugal, where, like Clark Griswold, you can drop in on cousins in the ‘old country’

While I may not have felt the same way you did about the Mona Lisa, I “do” know the feeling that you had. I felt the same way when I saw Michelangelo’s David in Florence. It became one of the few signature moments in my life! I’m happy you had one of those too Cat.

Travel back safe you two! ;^D

Top 10, that’s a tough call. Now that you’ve had a taste of Europe you’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg with regards to global traveling.

Looking forward to your next foreign travel blog Cat.

Photo 6 of 20 sums up the trip for me, and I wasn’t even there. The gloves in London? Good heavens. Saved Tiffany’s for the next trip to Paris?

I like the fact that the crepe guy was selling Heineken beers right on the street. Super!
