It is a beautiful picture of family and friendship. It reminded me of several years ago learning that this closeness that Americans had with thier dogs is one of the shocking cultural differences that Iraqi refugees and asylum-seekers had to be briefed on while waiting to be cleared for transit to the US at the height of the hostilities and sectarian violence, ethnic cleansing even, following the mostly US invasion and occupation of Iraq.
