interesting. But who would you give this to? 2oo bucks is still kind of alot for the “friend” catergory.dont really wanna give something clunky and inferior to a significant other.kids all of iphones already dont they?older person…maybe a parent?…they dont do so well with “new-fangled-gadgets.And its kinda a small screen.Quite the conundrum.
Although I’m a devoted Mac person, I just can’t afford all their gadgets. I do have a new iMac which I got this year after having my last iMac for over 7 years. Well worth the cost, IMO. As for the iPhone and iPad, well that’s just too out of my price range. Yeah, so I have an Android phone and now a Kindle Fire. My husband got it for me as an early Christmas present. Because of the 30-day window to return it, I had to try it out. I have to say that I do like it a lot. More than I thought I would. I like the size a lot. I think if I had the iPad, it would have been too big for me. I can read email, FB, twitter and surf the Internet. Plus I can play games, stream movies and tv shows, listen to music, etc. It does just about everything I like. Of course a camera would have been nice but I’m okay with not having it on there. I personally like my point & shoot better. Overall, a really nice gift!
I heard a story on NPR about how Amazon is taking a $10 hit per sale of the Kindle Fire. It’s their way to snag your loyalty as a customer for all the Kindle-specific products you’ll then need to purchase from them for the device. I like Amazon as a company, but realizing that makes this not seem like such a great deal after all, especially if you’re already entrenched in the Mac world. Just something to think about since you’ll likely want videos, music, books, etc. to add to that tablet. And if it’s primarily for reading purposes, reviews suggest the original Kindle is more user-friendly.
