We didn’t have much time.
Only on Kauai for two days — and working most of our waking hours — we wanted to see and do and eat as much as we could in a 48-hour span.
It’s amazing how much this island has to offer, from white-sand beaches to lush hikes to historic towns bustling with art galleries, walking tours and trendy eateries.
We spent our last day traveling from magical Hanalei on Kauai’s north shore to the historic plantation town of Hanapepe on the west side, visiting everything in between.
Here’s what our last 24 hours looked like:
Art Night
Since 1998, the town has hosted Art Night every Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. It's a lot like First Friday in Chinatown, where art galleries, boutiques and restaurants stay open late and live music fills the street. It was a great way to end our 48 hours on Kauai. I already have plans to go back!

You have to look down from the bridge. It is so much fun. Love that place, just love it. If you are going to have a vacation place that is the place to have it.
I agree. I want to go back sometime this year. I didn’t even make it to Waimea Canyon!
Waimea Canyon is worth it, hike down and back out if you have the time. Have been there when it was shrouded in a dense fog and when it was completely clear. Neat place.
