My friends and I have spent a lot of time Kanpai Bar & Grill.
A lot.
So much, in fact, we even knew the shifts of the servers.
So when some of the staff left Kanpai to work in the kitchen of a new bar/grill in January, we were torn. We loved the laid-back indoor/outdoor atmosphere of Kanpai, the abundance of parking across the street and, of course, the garlic chicken.
The new place — Home Bar & Grill — was dark and along Kalakaua Avenue where parking is scarce. (Understatement.)
But — and this was a big one — it had that garlic chicken.
That did it. We were moving the pau hana to Home — and we didn’t regret it.
The menu boasts pan-seared Manila clams, kalbi noodles and chicken gizzards. And there’s even tater tot nachos, with sour cream, olives, salsa, nacho cheese sauce, and jalapenos.
And yes, the garlic chicken was there, too. (Whew)
Here’s what our last night out looked like:

Hello Cat!
It’s fuud pixs Friday!
My mouth is watering from looking at the fuud pixs. 🙂
Happy 4th of July weekend!
That’s right! I keep forgetting it’s July 1 already!
The year is going by so fast! The next thing you know it’s Christmas.
that looks fabulous. happy fourth to everyone. have a safe one.
Picture number 3 does it for me. Garlic chicken at a restaurant in HNL is a big draw. If they do that right they got me hook line and sinker. I LOVE garlic chicken.
mayo instead of ketchup is actually pretty good with fries.even tartar sauce.
Where on Kalakaua is Home located?
Home does have good food.
I used to go there when it was called Slammers.
Then they moved to Kanpai, then alot of staff moved back to old Slammers location
Parking still sucks
When it was slammers I used to blow $100 a night buying the hot chick bartenders and servers shots ( $20 a shot )
Legitimate tequila, vodka, whiskey, etc. The real stuff
not the $20 water drinks at Korean bars
It’s more fun when your hot babe bartender and server are hammered.
Better chance of scoring
if you know what I mean…………
Already, the kim chee fried rice must have been kicked up a notch in your book = NO PEAS!
Love Home!
Tater tot nachos!
It’s like a cozy Kampai’s.
