Get Out: Heeia Kea Pier General Store & Deli

By Catherine Toth Fox • May 25, 2012 • #CatTravels, Food

According to the weather segment on today’s morning show, it’s going to be a ridiculously beautiful Memorial Day weekend.

So don’t plan to stay home!

My suggestion: drive over the Pali and head to Heeia Kea Pier, where the general store there is hopping with incredible locally sourced eats that will make you wonder, “Why haven’t I eaten here before?”

Here’s what we ate for lunch this week. And I’m sure it will entice you to make the trek out there.

I remember coming here as a kid — and this general store was just that. It sold snacks and beer. Boy has that changed!

    Hello Cat!
    Fuud pixs Friday!
I been out to the pier many times to go standup paddle out in the bay but never been to the general store to grind.

    M,

I made a feeble attempt at SUP from there once. Ever seen any sharks?

Robin, of all the times I been paddling out there in K-bay I never seen a shark but I’m sure that they are there.

Not sure if it’s still the case, but I’ve been told it’s a hammerhead breeding ground, with lots of pups.

Used to stop there every now and then. It didn’t look like that though, when did it get the upgrade? Seem to remember the biker’s stopped there on the weekends on their poker run. I used to sail in that area on my catamaran and there are sharks there but sightings are very infrequent.

CAT: Aaaiiiyyyaaahhh! Fuud Pix! Tenks! While this place is a great one, it is still a bit far for townies unless you’re on that side. With gusty winds it is a bit of a challenge in the open.
