#CatTravels: Eating my way through NYC

Ever since I told people I was heading to New York City, I got inundated with restaurant, bakery and deli suggestions.

And while it was a bit overwhelming — I can’t possibly eat at 59 different eateries in five days! — I was stoked to have a list of places (and things) to eat.

So I decided, on my second day in the city and one that I’d be spending mostly alone, that I would try to get a few of them checked off my list.

But first things first, I needed to get an overview of the city — and that meant heading to the top of the Empire State Building.

Here’s what I did — and ate — on Thursday:

And for dessert, a trio of ice cream: salted caramel, peanut brittle and coffee. A great end to a nearly perfect culinary day in New York City. I need a nap!

Best Cat Travel ever… really enjoyed it. The food all looks so good, might be hard to get on plane and go home. Look forward to the next day!

Upon re-read… this does not mean you get so fat you can’t get on the plane… it means it is so good you don’t want to leave 🙂 Mercy… sometimes brain no work so good.

agree with DJ. best Cat Travel.
the last time i went to NYC I took my son to see the Xmas tree. first time for him so we went to a bunch of tourist things that my wife and i never did (too cool for it, I guess). i had the best time at the top of the empire state building, on liberty island, in a hansom cab through the park. sometimes you gotta let yourself give in to the touristy things just because. they’re icons for a reason, I guess.
a trip before that we went with some friends who are power shoppers (urban hip hop type stuff) and not really eaters (we’re polar opposites). you’d think the trip would be a disaster but it was great. they hit a bunch of trendy boutiques in a bunch of different neighborhoods and we followed them, stopping into little no name neighborhood restaurants for a bite of this and a taste of that. didn’t hit any “name” places but got to eat a lot of unique, local food that we’d never have found if we stuck with the guide books.

CAT: Thanks…it is so good to travel this way in the comfort of home and bathroom. Say no bathroom pix?

Ask your friend about Jewish Delis in the Murray Hill area. There was a great one near the Morgan that I can’t remember. Had great Beef tongue there with a raisin sauce.
